Dachshund Problems
Welcome to Dachshund Problems. This website is dedicated to helping dachshund owners properly train their dachshund.
Dachshund dogs are amazing animals with tons of love to give. While there are some dachshund problems, they are still some of the most amazing pets. With proper training, all those small dachshund problems can all be avoided.
History
Dachshund dogs were first breed in Germany about a century ago. These dogs were bread for their signature long bodies and short legs. This body style allows dachshunds to be exceptional field and underground hunters. Many of the common dachshund problems stem from this breeding.
Temperament
Dachshund dogs might be small in size, but they have large personalities. They tend to take the perspective that they are king of the house. Even with their large personalities, dachshunds tend to be very loving toward their owners. Often dachshunds will follow their owner around from room to room, and try to cuddle with the owner whenever there is the chance.
Whatever love dachshunds give their owners, they do not have the same love for strangers. One of the most common dachshund problems is the excessive barking at strangers. This problem can be overcome with the correct training though.
Since dachshunds are natural underground dogs, they will enjoy the chance to be under blankets or sheets. When they rest, they will often try to find a blanket or sheet to burrow beneath. This can create some adorable picture opportunities.
Children
Children are not one of the dachshund problems. Dachshunds are very good with children that live in the house. However, if “new” children come over to the house, the dachshund can become aggressive. In general, it is best to keep dachshunds away from “new” children.
Physical Condition
Due to their long back, the signature look does lead to several physical dachshund problems. The chances of your dachshund having physical problems can be minimized by now allowing your dachshund to sit on only its back two legs when begging, or jumping down from high places.
Training
Training a dachshund takes patience, kindness and persistence. It also takes the right training knowledge. By properly training your dachshund, you can avoid many of the common dachshund problems.
